Back on Tour

Tomorrow, ShadowsForge will be back on the road. ShadowsForge 4: The Long Way Home is the story of Brian Cummings, percussionist. Find out what has made him the man that he is, and join the tour as ShadowsForge takes THE LONG WAY HOME

BLURB:

Brian Cummings has come a long way from Leicestershire, England. Miles of hard road lay between then and now—hard road he’s kept hidden—until the nightmares begin again.

Diane Starling loves Brian. If she were not carrying his child, she’d still do anything to make him happy—even letting him go to someone else. Who is the woman in his nightly dreams? Why does she make him scream?

Valerie Leonard, journalist, dredges up history that should remain buried; history that could ruin Brian and hurt the people he loves most. Should Val keep his dangerous past to herself? Doesn’t Diane have the right to know the truth about the father of her child?

Brian and Diane fight to overcome the past, embrace the present, and build a future as they travel with ShadowsForge on “THE LONG WAY HOME.

Brian Cummings speaks out on Brian Cummings

Brian Cummings speaks on Brian Cummings

I've never thought I would allow my history to be told but on 1 November, my past will be laid open. I suppose I should have just told everyone what was going on in the first place. It would have saved a lot of problems, especially with Diane. I can't tell you how much I love that woman. I should have known she'd get me over the rough bits. I should have gone to her right up front. Then no one would have had to get hurt.

Well, live and learn. I've come a long way from the street fighting, the alcohol and drugs, and all the other trouble I put my parents through. I can only hope that my father can find it in his heart to forgive me someday. Hey, Dad? If you are reading this, I've finally grown up. I hope you can be proud of me now. Neither one of us were proud of me then. I love you and Mum. I will tell you this, it's been a long way home.

What ShadowsForge does while Jena' is away…

What ShadowsForge does while Jena' is away…

This was a bit of silliness that I typed up one night between writing ShadowsForge 3: Retaking America and ShadowsForge 4: The Long Way Home. Just what do the characters do when they are waiting for their next book to be written? Read and see…

Geoff Richards paced back and forth across the white room that was devoid of furnishings, decorations, even windows. He couldn't figure out where the light was coming from but at least the room wasn't dark. He released a heavy sigh as he reached the wall for the umpteenth time.

“Where the hell is she?” He shouted at the wall, and his voice echoed back in his face.

“That’s not going to help.” Ty sat on the floor, Alexis on his lap. He wrapped his arms around her as she leaned down, and gave him a long kiss.

“Oh, would you two get a room?” Jon leaned against the opposite wall and moaned.

"What’s bugging you?” Brian sat on the floor, against the corner. Diane sat beside him, her legs curled under her and her head on his shoulder.

“Nothing you or Ty would understand. We’ve been waiting for over a month.” Jon moaned again.

Jordan laughed. “You want some cheese and bread, Jon?”

“For what?” Jon slid down the wall to sit on the floor.

“I thought it would go well with your whine.”

“Funny. Why aren’t you going nuts yet?” Jon stretched out his legs.

Jordan shrugged. “I know how she is. She’ll be here when she's ready.”

Geoff punched the wall. “Not soon enough.” He leaned his forehead against the smooth surface, and kicked at the baseboard with the toe of his boot.

Jon shrugged. “There were some truly fine ladies in that audience in Roanoke. I saw at least three I could have gotten to know really well. She could have left a couple of them here, too.”

“And a couple of acoustics,” Jordan added.

“Sticks and a snare or tom.” Brian shrugged.

“Hey, I always have my voice with me.” Geoff turned his back against the wall, and shoved his hands into his pockets.

“How about a few partitions--for privacy.” Ty grinned at Alexis.

Brian smirked. “It could be worse.”

“How?” Jon looked around at the silvery-blond drummer.

“She could have left Nigel in here.”

Everyone groaned.

“That would have been grounds to up and quit.” Jon slid along the wall, and landed on his back. He stared at the ceiling. “Hey. Look at that.” He sat up, his steel blue eyes tracing the top of the wall.

The others followed his gaze. Around the ceiling where it met the walls was a seam.

“She’s put us in a bloody shoe box!” Jon stood up, jumped as high as he could, and struck the ceiling. It bumped up.

Jordan leaned his back against the wall, and laced his fingers together. “Jon.”

Jon placed his sneaker-shod foot in Jordan’s hands. He climbed up to push on the ceiling. It moved a bit before Jon jumped down.

“It’s heavy. Geoff, Ty get up here.”

Geoff braced his back against the wall and assumed the same position as Jordan.

“On three,” Ty suggested.

Geoff cleared his throat. “Five, four, three.” Jon and Ty climbed up their band mates.

Ty laughed. “Can’t you count normal?”

“Wouldn’t be as much fun.” Geoff groaned under the strain.

The two blonds pushed at the ceiling, and raised it high enough to see that there was a small lip. They struggled to move the lid before J.C. or Geoff gave out.

Between them, they got their hands under the lip and pulled it. The ceiling slid part way back, and left a gap of about a foot before Jon lost his balance, and fell to the floor. Before Geoff collapsed, Ty put his boot against the wall above Geoff’s shoulder and shoved. With his fingers wrapped around the lid, he was able to move it another foot or so on his way down.

The four sat on the floor, slightly out of breath.

“Damn.” Geoff huffed. “We need to get to a gig soon. We’re in pretty bad shape, here. Ty, you’re getting fat, mate.”

“Thanks.” Ty looked at his body, then at his wife. She shook her head and licked her lips. It made him smile.

“We definitely need some exercise,” Jordan agreed.

Brian walked over to assess the opening. “Don’t suppose we have a rope?”

“Not with,” Jon grinned. “Got one or two in my bag.”

“And your bag is where?” Brian looked sarcastically down at Jon.

“Same place yours is. In the bleedin’ bus in Roanoke, Virginia, where Jena' packed us up.”

“That was a great show,” Geoff reminisced with a twinkle in his topaz eyes.

“Glad you had fun.” Ty stood up, and dusted off his trousers. “You almost got locked up.”

“I wasn’t going too far. Security just got nervous when I opened my trousers.”

Brian crossed his arms over his thick chest. “Like I was saying, a rope? Could we make one?”

“Out of what?” Geoff looked around, and turned with his arms wide to present the empty room.

“Your y-fronts.” Jordan laughed.

“Excuse me?” Diane spoke from the corner where Brian had left her. “The only undergarments in the room belong to Alexis and myself. Just what can you do with two bras and two thongs?”

They all laughed.

Jordan Cantrell speaks out...

I have a hard time believing how fast the last six years have breezed by. It's been a wild ride but nothing I would have wanted to miss. Except maybe wiping out two tour buses over the past few months and falling off the stage in Semantica. We've met a lot of great women and a few that were not so nice. But, hey, that goes with the territory. You have to expect that to happen.

I'll keep looking, though. I know what I want and I won't settle for less. I may not be as popular as Geoff, Ty and Jon, but I know there is someone out there and I'm going to find her. I can wait. Not a problem. I'm patient. At least I'm one up on Brian in the popularity poll. LOL

Let's face it. I'll take what I can get! With the others around, I'm lucky to get noticed at all. Except by Crystal. Never did get her last name but she turned out to be a disaster looking for a place to happen anyway. Too bad she had to "happen" to ShadowsForge. She cost me and the lads a lot more than we bargained for. Cheeky little vixen. Well, live and learn. I should have known.

Lady Jena' posted excerpts from Three Times a Hero, Trials on Tour, Retaking America at Romance Excerpts Only yahoo group all day Saturday, May 26th, if you want to get a taste of us.

I want to wish those on the far side of the pond a safe and happy holiday weekend. If you find things a bit slow, skip on over to http://www.whiskeycreekpress.com and pick up one of our ebooks. Find out what we've been doing on the Ethereal Edge tour. Or pick them all up and spend the weekend with ShadowsForge. You'll have a bang up time. Find out what it's like to travel with the band. Find out why Brian's been sneaking about. Find out how versitile mashed potatoes can be! (You'll have to check with Geoff for the details on that one!)

All my love,

Ty Synclair talks about ShadowsForge 3: Retaking America

The life of a performer is not his own. But I wouldn't give it up for the world.

If you want to know more about me and my mates, Geoff Richards, Jon Wiles, Jordan Cantrell, and Brian Cummings, drop by Lady Jena' Galifany's site and read up on the excerpts she has posted there. She's done a lot to keep us in line, but every now and again, we get a bit out of hand. http://jenagalifany.bravehost.com/

In SF3: Retaking America, just released, we are back in the States and Geoff has really done something stupid... with Diane, our wardrobe lady. He's lucky she didn't have him either thrown in the gaol or out of the country. That would have put a hasty end to the tour. While she was trying to decide what she wanted done with Geoff, Jordan went for a walk and came back with Crystal. Never caught her last name. In this business, we are lucky to get a first name. She's a real busy girl, eyeing up every guy in the band while trying to keep Jordan from noticing. And there is something odd going on with Brian. He's doing a bit of sneaking about, too.

The 80s. They were crazy in the rock and roll scene and ShadowsForge is trying our damnedest to drag that insanity into the new century. Come along for the ride.

Cheers,
